Genetically Modified Organisms

What are GMOs?
GMOs (or Genetically Modified Organisms) are organisms (such as plants or animals) that have been laboratory-created by combining genes from unrelated species in ways that cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding or grafting. Examples include splicing fish genes into tomatoes or inserting human genes into corn. GMO crops were introduced in the 1990s.
Why are GMOs a concern?
Because of concerns for their safety and health risks, their environmental and community impacts, and other concerns, most countries have significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs. But the U.S. is one of the only countries in the world that does not have any such nationwide restrictions or labeling requirements. When it comes to multivitamins and other supplements, GMOs are a concern because the ingredients in supplements may be derived from GMO crops.
All Oxylent Products are Proudly Non-GMO
All of the Oxylent effervescent multivitamins are Non-GMO, and they are currently in the process of verifying the entire product line with The Non-GMO Project verification program. Vitalah thinks it is imperative for all supplement manufacturers to be at the forefront of the NonGMO movement and join the Non-GMO Project's program, and so for them it was an easy choice to undergo certification for the entire line.

Stringent Standards that Surpass cGMPs and USP

Just like building codes protect our health and safety by setting standards for the construction industry, regulatory requirements in the dietary supplement industry play a similarly crucial role in protecting our safety by setting standards for the purity, safety, and quality of supplements and their supply chains.
In 2007, the FDA issued Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for dietary supplements. GMPs set standards to protect consumers and guarantee purity (from pesticides, heavy metals, bacteria, etc.). Standards set by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) also safeguard the dietary supplement industry and ingredients in the global marketplace. Vitalah prides themselves on the ability to not only meet, but surpass the quality standards of cGMPs and USP in the manufacturing of their Oxylent multivitamins.
Guaranteed by Third-Party Testing In order to guarantee that Oxylent not only complies with cGMP and USP standards, but also surpasses them, all Oxylent products are third-party tested by independent laboratories. These tests analyze and document the levels of purity from both heavy metals and microbial contaminants.
Vitalah is very sensitive to allergen issues, and understand the importance of manufacturing a daily multivitamin supplement that does not contain allergens. Oxylent products are free from all eight major allergens as identified by the Food Allergen and Labeling Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA): Soy, Dairy, Vegetarian, Fish, Casein, Lactose, Egg, Nut. Vitalah certifies that Oxylent products are allergen-free as per FA LC PA.

Commitment to Sustainability

In the Manufacturing
As a powder-form effervescent supplement, Oxylent requires less processing than pill-form supplements, which means less fuel and energy used. Effervescence also needs less fuel and energy to transport, thereby further reducing pollution and overall carbon footprint. Effervescence allows Oxylent to offer superior quality nutrition while minimizing waste and environmental impact.
In the Packaging
The effervescent powder form of Oxylent also eliminates the need for plastic bottles in packaging. Our single-serving packets are packaged in 100% recyclable cardboard rather than the plastic bottles that take thousands of years to break down and cause significant environmental concern. Our packets and boxes are also packaged by a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certified company, and are printed with soy-based inks.
In the Offices
Vitalah is committed to reducing the environmental impact in their everyday office practices in order to ensure that sustainability is implemented throughout every level of their company. They take steps such as using recyclable shipping materials in their warehouse, and using 100% certified wind energy to package the packets and boxes in order to help eliminate greenhouse gas emissions.
